About

I am a theoretical physicist by training with a broad interest in biophysics, soft matter, material science, robotics and computer science. In short, I like to uncover patterns and rules delineating “functional” responses in complex systems using data-driven approaches, simulations and theory; always in close collaboration with experimentalists. In my PhD I worked with Martin van Hecke (UL/AMOLF), Corentin Coulais (UvA) and Marjolein Dijkstra (UU) on computational design of multifunctional mechanical metamaterials. After my PhD I was awarded a postdoctoral research grant (NWO Rubicon) to work at the ESPCI Paris with Zorana Zeravcic (ESPCI) and Jasna Brujic (NYU) on self-folding and reconfigurable colloidal chains.
